Introduction
At first glance, Christian Zionism appears as a biblical and patriotic movement — supporting Israel as a fulfillment of God’s covenant with Abraham. However, beneath its surface lies a theological heresy that has hijacked evangelical Christianity and distorted U.S. foreign policy to serve Jewish interests. Christian Zionism asserts that modern Israel is the spiritual heir of biblical Israel, thereby justifying unconditional support for its apartheid regime. This ideology has been weaponized by figures like John Hagee, Pat Robertson, and Ted Cruz, who claim that Christians must back Israel to avoid divine judgment.
Christian Zionism isn’t just a theological mistake — it’s a betrayal. By cheering Palestinian eviction and ignoring Jesus’ scathing rebuke of Pharisaic hypocrisy (Matthew 23), it spits on Christ’s command to love enemies (Matthew 5:44). This heresy merges Judaism with Christianity (as if they are in any way related, more on this later), erasing the Church’s identity as God’s chosen (Galatians 3:28-29). It’s bankrupted America morally and financially — fueling wars like Iraq and endless Israeli aid. This is my first of a series of articles speaking against Zionism, this first will be the most important as it lays the groundwork for ridding the Christian conscience of Zionism, and how it infiltrated in the first place. For my entire life up until the last year, I supported Israel as an act of faith, I cannot put my finger on an exact Sunday school lesson that taught me this, but it was weaved into my Christianity, that I should support Israel, that that land was given to them by God and that it is to be theirs for the rest of time, that Judaism and Christianity are brother faiths. This is heresy I now reject outrightly, and I firmly believe that it is the greatest heresy that has ever afflicted our faith.
I. Historical Inaccuracy: Modern Jews as Descendants of Israelites
Pretty much the entire theory of Zionism depends on this one belief; that modern Jewish people are the lineal descendants of the Biblical Jacob. If this can be discredited or disproven, then the argument for Zionism is thus crushed, and we can move on to taking down the other arguments.
To start, we must define our words. 'Jew,' 'Israelite', and 'Hebrew,' are not synonymous, though many people use them as if they were. 'Jew' initially was the shorthand version of "Judah," which was dominant over the tribe of Benjamin in the Southern Kingdom of Israel after the Northern Kingdom of Israel was insurrected by the Assyrians. Under this definition, all jews would be Israelites, but not all Israelites Jews. Over time, 'jew' morphed into a contraction for "Judea," which was a Roman province in Judah. As Davis Carlton notes:
During the revolt of Judas Maccabeus, many Edomites and other non-Israelites were compelled to convert to Judaism. From this time forward, a Judean was more of a geographic identification, rather than an ethnic one. Thus, the contraction "Jew" underwent a substantive revision by the time period of the New Testament. An example of this revision is that the puppet king of Jeda under Roman rule was Herod, who was considered Jewish even though he was ethnically an Edomite, not an Israelite.
After the fulfillment of Daniel's prophecy in Dan. 9 (as well as Christ's prediction in the Olivet Discourse, Matt. 24:1-2) of the destruction of the temple, genealogical records could no longer establish a Levitical priesthood among the Jewish people. As we read in Ezra 2:59-62, patrilineal descent from the tribe of Levi was essential to priesthood, and since the destruction of the temple was so thorough, from then on, all practicing Jews have only had rabbis or teachers, No Jewish leader can legitimately be considered a priest, since they all lack the requisite genealogical records.
So while it is not impossible that a modern Jew is descended from the original Israelites, many are descended from non-Israelites who converted to Talmudic Judaism. In The Thirteenth Tribe, by Arthur Koestler, he claims most Ashkenazi Jews today (majority of Jews in America and Israel) descended from a Turkish-Mongolic tribe called the Khazars. Koestler himself is of Hungarian Jewish descent.
This is very important because the Zionist claim that they have an intrinsic God-given right to the land hinges on the idea that they are in fact descendants of the ancient Israelites. Koestler's work, and other ethnologists, has demonstrated that modern jews have a decidedly weak claim to be descendants of the ancient Israelites. The majority of Christian Zionists in the US are white, and as we learn from 1 Macc. 12:21, during the Maccabean revolt against the Seleucid overlords, the Israelites established a pact with the Spartans based on their common descendancy from Abraham. If the ancient Israelites believed the Spartans to be descendant from Abraham, then it would seem logical that all Europeans are likewise descended from Abraham. This partially explains Noah's prophecy in Gen. 9:27, that Japheth (the general ancestor of Europeans) dwells in the tents of Shem.
All this is to say: It is peak irony that (mostly white) Christians in the US trip over themselves lobbying and defending a group of people with a significantly weaker claim to descent from ancient Israelites than they have themselves.
Now that we have made at least a semi-credible argument against the idea that modern Jews and Old Testament Jews are the same, we can move on to the next argument, which would dispel Zionism itself even if none of the above were true.
II. Covenant Irrelevance
The fatal flaw of Christian Zionism is blindingly obvious — so clear, in fact, that only deliberate ignorance can obscure it. The entire edifice of Christian Zionism collapses upon one simple, Scripturally irrefutable fact: the rejection of Christ by modern Jews. Every biblical promise, every covenantal claim, every appeal to Abraham and Moses, is voided by the Jew’s refusal to acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah (John 8:31-47). This isn’t just a theological nuance — it’s the line between salvation and damnation, between covenantal life and death. And yet, Christian Zionists unknowingly reject Christ with every breath, elevating Jewish supremacy above His command to love Him first (Matthew 10:37). To be a Zionist is to be an anti-Christ — there is no middle ground.
First, the Abrahamic Covenant was fulfilled in Christ, not in a political state (Galatians 3:16). Second, the Mosaic Covenant was conditional — Israel’s disobedience (Deuteronomy 28:15-68) led to exile and covenantal death (Hosea 1:9). Modern Jews, by rejecting Christ (John 8:31-47), remain outside the New Covenant (Hebrews 8:13). Their observance of Mosaic Law (Galatians 5:2-4) is faithless (Romans 11:20) and renders their claim to covenantal status null.
The New Covenant supersedes the Old (Hebrews 8:13, Romans 7:4), making Israel’s physical descendancy irrelevant (Galatians 3:28). Christ is the true Israel (Romans 2:28-29), and His Church — comprising both Jews and Gentiles — is now God’s chosen people (1 Peter 2:9-10). Christian Zionism’s refusal to acknowledge this covenantal shift is theological malpractice. By fixating on ethnic Israel, it undermines the universal Church and Christ’s redemptive mission. Both Calvin and Luther understood "Israel" in Romans 11:25-27, the promise that "all Israel shall be saved," to mean Jewish and Gentile Believers, while their successors, Theodore Beza and Martin Bucer, preferred to apply the word to unbelieving Jews and Judaism. This view essentially says there exist two pathways to God, the first being faith in Jesus Christ, and the second being a jew, which we already know is utterly false (John 14:6). This view was held by almost none of the church for all of history until premillennial dispensationalism became popular following WWI (I will expand on this in another section).
According to Christ Himself, rejection of Him is simultaneously a rejection of the Old Testament prophets (John 5:46). Jesus bluntly states, "If you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me" (John 5:46). This means that any Jew rejecting Christ is not just refusing the Messiah, but also nullifying the testimony of Moses and the entire prophetic tradition — effectively voiding their own religious heritage. The prophets foretold Christ’s coming (Isaiah 53, Micah 5:2-5), and to reject Him is to reject Scripture itself (Luke 24:25-27). This is why Christian Zionism’s unconditional support for Christ-rejecting Jews is a theological contradiction — backing those who, by their own rejection, have no covenantal standing (Romans 11:20).
III. The Heresy of the "Judeo-Chrisian"
Christians are duped into believing that their historical bond with Jews is unbroken and sacred. The truth? Two thousand years of Jewish hostility toward Christianity — perpetuated not just by fringe radicals, but by mainstream Jewish leaders and institutions. Consider:
-
The Crucifixion of Christ (Matthew 27:1-2, Acts 2:23): Orchestrated by Jewish elders, signed off by Pontius Pilate, and cheered by Jewish crowds.
-
The Massacre of 66-73 AD: During the Jewish revolt, Christians in Jerusalem were slaughtered en masse — refused refuge by their Jewish brethren.
-
The Talmudic Curse (Berakoth 28b): Jewish rabbis teach that Christians are to be cursed daily in the "Shemoneh Esreh" prayer.
-
The Blood Libel: Countless Christian children (e.g., Simon of Trent, 1475) were tortured to death by Jews to use their blood in Passover rituals — a practice rooted in the Talmud (Yebamoth 62a).
-
The Bolshevik Holocaust (1917-1941): Jewish revolutionaries (Trotsky, Kaganovich) led the slaughter of tens of millions of Russian Orthodox Christians — burning tens of thousands of churches, crucifying priests.
-
The Frankfurt School’s Cultural Jihad: Jewish intellectuals (Herbert Marcuse, Theodor Adorno) engineered the sexual revolution and multiculturalism to destroy Christian morality and as an outright mockery of Christ.
-
Israel’s Anti-Christian Apartheid: Evangelical Christianity is illegal in Israel (Basic Law 1977). Jewish extremists spit on Christian clergy, burn churches (e.g., 2015 arson at Tabgha), and harass missionaries under threat of imprisonment.
To the Christians; this is your history. The alliance between Christianity and Judaism is a myth, these people hate you and they hate our Lord. They will lie to you to get what they want out of you. And I must ask a question, do you even know what is in their holy book, the Talmud?? Here are just a few of the things claimed:
-
Jesus in Hell: Gittin (57a) claims Jesus is boiling in semen.
-
Mary a Whore: Sanhedrin (106a) says Mary slept with a Roman soldier.
-
Christians Are Idiots: Avodah Zarah (17a) calls those who believe in Jesus "fools."
-
Gentiles Are Beasts: Baba Mezia (114b) equates non-Jews to animals.
-
Jewish Supremacy: Sanhedrin (58b) teaches Jews are born circumcised while Gentiles are born uncircumcised—implying racial superiority.
-
Children Not Human: Yevamot (114b) calls Gentile children "animals."
-
Sex with Minors: Niddah (45a) permits sex with 3-year-old girls.
-
Murdering Gentiles: Sanhedrin (57a) says it is praiseworthy to kill Gentiles.
-
Lying to Gentiles: Baba Kamma (113b) teaches Jews can lie to Gentiles.
-
Stealing from Gentiles: Baba Mezia (24a) says Jews may steal from Gentiles.
Remember Christ’s warning: "They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service" (John 16:2). Zionism has brought the Church to its knees and rendered us servants to our most ancient enemy, institutional Christianity now worships those whom we formerly treated as the monsters we knew them to be. We now idolize those who tormented and murdered our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
IV. How Our Most Ancient Enemy Infiltrated Our Faith
Now that we’ve uncovered some truths you may not have known before, a natural question arises: How did this heretical ideology infiltrate Christianity, and why do so many Christians believe it? For nearly all of Christian history, believers recognized Judaism not as a “brother faith,” but as a rejection and perversion of the truth. This view endured until the early 20th century—when one book changed everything.
The Birth of a Heresy: The Scofield Reference Bible
First published in 1909, the Scofield Reference Bible became the most insidious and influential tool in the hijacking of Christian theology by Zionist interests. Funded by Rothschild and Samuel Untermyer—powerful Jewish financiers known for manipulating Western politics—this “study Bible” was crafted with a clear purpose: to indoctrinate Christians into unconditional support for the emerging Zionist project.
Its author, Cyrus Ingerson Scofield, had no theological training and a deeply questionable past. A former U.S. Representative for Kansas, Scofield resigned as District Attorney after a string of financial crimes: accepting railroad bribes, forging signatures, and embezzling funds. A known alcoholic, he abandoned his wife and daughters before remarrying within three months of divorce. Yet somehow, this disgraced man re-emerged as “Reverend C. I. Scofield, D.D.” — a title he neither earned nor was ever granted.
The Hidden Hand Behind Scofield
Scofield’s transformation from failed politician to theological celebrity did not happen by accident. Around this period, he became associated with James Brookes and John Nelson Darby, the father of dispensationalism. Soon after, Scofield began work on his now-famous Bible.
By 1901, he was inexplicably admitted into New York’s prestigious Lotos Club, an elite private society whose members included Mark Twain, Carnegie, Astor, and Eisenhower. The club was known as a political and cultural power hub—where, for instance, Woodrow Wilson’s presidential campaign was launched. As researcher Joseph Canfield observed, “The admission of Scofield to the Lotos Club, which could not have been sought by Scofield, strengthens the suspicion that someone was directing his career.” Both Canfield and David Lutz point to Samuel Untermyer, a Zionist Wall Street lawyer and Democratic fundraiser, as that hidden hand—possibly the same man who later influenced Wilson to appoint Louis Brandeis, the first Jewish Supreme Court justice.
The Engine of Zionist Eschatology
Scofield’s version of dispensationalism became the perfect theological vehicle for Zionism. Financed and promoted by Untermyer’s powerful network, Scofield made repeated trips to Europe, where he met with Oxford University Press publisher Henry Frowde, who agreed to print his Bible in 1909.
Upon release, the Scofield Reference Bible quickly became “the most influential book among evangelicals during the first half of the twentieth century” and “the Bible of fundamentalism” (Sizer, Christian Zionism). By the 1950s, half of all conservative evangelical student groups used Scofield’s edition.
How the Bible Was Weaponized
Scofield used the King James Version, lending credibility to his work—but his footnotes radically altered biblical interpretation. As the English of the KJV grew harder to understand, Scofield’s notes became authoritative for many readers. In effect, his commentary began to replace Scripture itself.
The result was catastrophic: Scofield’s reinterpretations created an entirely new subculture centered around a false idol—the modern State of Israel, which did not yet exist but was already being planned by Zionist architects.
The timing was perfect. World War I shattered the postmillennial optimism of traditional Christianity, making dispensationalism appear vindicated. By World War II, over two million copies of the Scofield Bible had been sold. The later “fulfillment” of prophecy—Israel’s establishment in 1948 and victory in the Six-Day War—cemented its authority among believers.
The Theology of Subversion
At its core, Scofield’s system divided God’s plan into “dispensations,” placing modern Israel at the center of divine prophecy. This doctrine:
-
Legitimized the secular Zionist project by framing it as the fulfillment of prophecy.
-
Bound American evangelicals to unconditional loyalty toward Israel.
-
Silenced criticism by weaponizing the label “anti-Semitic” against dissenters.
Scofield’s footnotes—especially on Genesis 12:3—blurred the line between ancient Israel and modern Zionism, implying that opposing the modern Israeli state was equivalent to cursing God’s chosen people.
The Rise of Apocalyptic Pop Theology: The Late Great Planet Earth
If the Scofield Bible laid the theological foundation for modern Christian Zionism, Hal Lindsey’s 1970 bestseller The Late Great Planet Earth built the popular superstructure. Exploding onto the scene at the height of Cold War anxiety, Lindsey’s book transformed dispensationalist prophecy from a niche doctrine into a mainstream cultural phenomenon. It sold more than 35 million copies by the 1990s, becoming the best-selling nonfiction book of the entire decade and earning Lindsey the title of “the father of modern prophecy writing.” Translated into dozens of languages, it reached pulpits, classrooms, and living rooms across the Western world, cementing Zionist-inflected eschatology into everyday evangelical thought.
Lindsey’s narrative reframed global politics—especially the founding of Israel in 1948—as the literal fulfillment of biblical prophecy. It recast the Middle East as the stage for the coming Armageddon, where Israel’s survival would dictate the fate of the world. For the first time, millions of ordinary Christians saw modern Israel not just as a nation, but as the prophetic timepiece of God, setting the countdown to Christ’s return.
This book, coupled with its television and film adaptations, launched an apocalyptic literary industry that continues to dominate evangelical media to this day. It popularized a sensationalized reading of Revelation and Daniel, spawning later works like Left Behind and giving rise to what can only be called end-times entertainment—faith distorted into fear.
Even more troubling was Lindsey’s moral teaching. In The Liberation of Planet Earth (1974), he went so far as to claim that Christians are not obligated to keep the Ten Commandments, arguing that the moral law was rendered void under grace. This blatant antinomianism severed Christianity from its moral foundations, normalizing a theology that preached emotional fervor over obedience, and prophecy over practice.
Together, the Scofield Bible and Lindsey’s apocalyptic franchise created the twin pillars of modern dispensationalism—one intellectual, one emotional—through which an entire generation of Christians was taught to venerate the modern State of Israel as sacred and to view the world through a lens of perpetual catastrophe.
The Aftermath
The legacy of the Scofield Bible has been catastrophic. It transformed millions of Protestants into unwitting Zionists, prioritizing Israeli interests over their own nations. It corrupted theology, replacing the universal Church—the true ekklesia of Christ—with a heretical cult of Christian Zionism.
The Church must now confront this counterfeit gospel and reaffirm its true identity as “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood” (1 Peter 2:9). Only by rejecting the Scofield Bible and its dispensational delusions can Christianity reclaim its faith from those who hijacked it.
Conclusion
The Christian Zionist movement, built upon the spurious foundations laid by Cyrus Scofield’s corrupted Bible, has led millions of faithful souls astray. By conflating modern Israel with biblical prophecy, this heresy has distorted the Church’s purpose, undermined Christ’s universal message, and betrayed the very principles of our faith. The truth is stark: modern Jews, through their rejection of Jesus, stand outside the New Covenant. Their claim to covenantal status is void, their observance of Mosaic Law faithless.
The Church must awaken to this theological fraud. We must affirm that Christ alone is the true Israel. The New Covenant supersedes the Old; the Church, comprising Jews and Gentiles, is now God’s chosen people.
The time for neutrality has passed. The time for truth has come. Let us purge our churches of Zionist influence, reject the Scofield Bible, and return to the pure Gospel of Christ. For the sake of our souls, our nation, and the world, we must end this heresy.
To my fellow Christians: do not be deceived. Zionism is not a biblical mandate-it is a weapon against our faith. Let us love our Jewish neighbors as we love ourselves and pray for their conversion, but let us not idolize their rejection of Christ.
The choice is clear. The time is now. Will we stand with Christ, or with His enemies?
